Join the Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalist (CVUU) Racial Justice Task Force this September for "Widening the Circle," a month-long series dedicated to uplifting the history, culture, and traditions of people of color.This series will explore how the survival of our Unitarian Universalist faith depends on accepting and addressing the prevalence of white supremacy culture within our communities. We'll work toward creating a more equitable and inclusive faith for all.
Featured Speakers and Events:
September 7th: Meet special guest Dr. Qiyamah Rahman, author of On the Rough Side of the Mountain and executive director of Sister SoUUrce. A meet-and-greet reception begins at 1 PM, followed by a musical performance by Rev. Candace Powers, an ordained minister with Fellowship of the Inner Light.
September 12th - 14th: CVUU will co-host a BIPOC Pride Weekend with Thriving Transmen of Color (TTMOC) as we continue to build a more diverse and inclusive community.
September 28th: We'll conclude the month with a Sunday sermon by Dr. Yvonne V. Delk, a national speaker, social justice activist, and UCC minister.
