Throughout history, women who have tried to make contributions to the fields of science, technology, engineering and math consistently learned that no good deed goes unpunished. Join local NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador and GSSI Volunteer Mandy Scurry to take a closer look at several women across time and cultures who were seen with suspicion and even had wickedness thrust upon them due to their work in STEM. Defying the odds, they persisted and because of their work, we have been changed for good. This International Day of Girls and Women in Science event will take place on Saturday, February 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. at EVPL Central Library’s Large Group room. Registration of $5/girl is due by Monday, February 23 for program seat reservation, supplies and patch. Geared toward girls in grades K-5 although older girls are welcome. No tagalongs.
