Wichita's FIRST Balboa Workshop (in a very long time)! Join us for an afternoon of classes followed by an evening dance. Leading our classes will be Katie Huang and Warren Cheung from Kansas City! Whether you're completely new to balboa or looking to add to your existing repertoire, you'll be in good hands with them.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
All About Connection!
We’ll introduce the Balboa connection and work on communicating, feeling, and responding to weight changes to build a solid foundation. Beginners will learn some pure Balboa basic steps and movements, and play with direction changes! Those who have previous Balboa experience will explore some variations in the basics you can use to add visual, rhythmic and directional style.
Add Bal To Your Swing Dance Toolkit
We’ll cover ways you can transition into Pure Balboa from more open position dances such as Lindy Hop and back again. Bring Balboa into your existing swing dance vocabulary!
Let's Get Bal-Swingin'
We’ll introduce Bal-Swing fundamentals, exploring its rotational stretch with lollies, toss-outs, and more! Beginners will learn how to do the iconic Bal-Swing toss-out, while more advanced dancers will explore the elements that make Balboa feel distinct from other swing dances.
Connecting It All Together
We’ll bring in some Bal-Swing stylings and variations, as well as cover how you can transition between Pure Balboa and Bal-Swing (and Lindy Hop!), adding playfulness and versatility to your dance.
