HYBRID WORKSHOP - Held in English
Did you know that all EU members, and other internationals who have been in Sweden for at least 3 years, are allowed to vote in the Swedish local and regional elections? Most people don’t, as only 40% of internationals in Lund made use of their right to vote in the elections of 2018.
This workshop is part of an initiative, Prisma 60%, where Eos Cares is aiming to bring awareness to the opportunity of participating in the democratic dialogue that precedes the elections of September 2022. In the workshop will be discussed:
- The integration experience of internationals in Lund, the opportunities for integration that the city offers, and the needs and challenges that internationals are facing in their establishment process.
- The opportunities to influence local decision-makers, through participating in the upcoming local election, and to bring up needs and interests as a part of the democratic dialogue. Key question is “Why would I vote?”, as we will try to understand the conditions that would make the effort of voting worth-while to a larger amount of internationals.
- The Prisma 60% project, and its approach for increasing the election turnout among foreign citizens in Lund. Scope, activities and opportunities to engage within the project.
The workshop will be in the hybrid format, held physically at the City Library of Lund, and with opportunities to participate online for those who prefer. Please register for the workshop, and indicate your participation method, through this link: https://www.eoscares.se/events/why-would-i-vote-in-the-2022-local-election/form
Related to this workshop is a webinar, “TThe Swedish political system and the upcoming elections in Sweden and Lund”, held on the 7th of December at 11:00-12:00, in collaboration with the International Citizen Hub Lund. This webinar will provide an insight into the Swedish political system: the elections and decision-making institutions, as well as the political parties and leaders that are competing.
