About this Event
Celebrate skiing, bring a friend and have some fun with us!
Join us for snacks, beverages and gear talk with Tracy and Samantha. This is your chance to learn from the best! They will provide a joint presentation on Blizzard and Tecnica products through their experiences with the Women to Women program.
This event is for women who:
- Enjoy the sport and want to take control of their own skiing experiences.
- Want to learn more about skis and boots that are designed for women.
- Want to learn why certain skis or boots are best for you.
- Are excited to hear stories from other women and why they enjoy the sport!
Bring your ski boots (skis too if you want) and we'll assess your gear and share recommendations so you can create your ideal days on snow. This event will be led by Sturtevants’ Tracy Gibbons and Sam Tischendorf, boot fitting expert from Boot Doctors in Telluride, CO, and part of the Blizzard-Tecnica W2W research team.
Want to know more?
Sturtevant's leadership team and staff feel that it's very important to support women who love Snowsports. This is an opportunity to be comfortable asking questions and meeting other women who ski, ride, teach, coach or work in the industry.
MORE ABOUT OUR EVENT LEADERS
Samantha Tischendorf
Sam will be coming from a Women's Summit at Mission Ridge, and she reserved a couple days to be with us! She has a clinical sports podiatry background in Australia working with athletes before seeing the light and moving to Telluride, Colorado. She is the supervising bootfitter at Bootdoctors. Tischendorf joined the Masterfit University teaching team in 2014 in both Australia (using her native tongue) and throughout the United States (with a team of translators).
She is a contributor to the Tecnica/Blizzard Women-to-Women (W2W) initiative and flies her flag among the Project165 team for Tecnica. "I am currently one of very few female bootfitters within the industry, hopefully making waves to encourage women to work within ski hard goods and encourage women’s specific fit for skis and boots. This is supported by Tecnica/Blizzard through the Women to Women and Project 165 Initiatives. An industry first."
When not wintering, she can be found trail running and giggling down single track on her bike.
Tracy Gibbons
Tracy grew up in the ski industry, starting at the original Sturtevant's location when it was across from Bellevue Square. She's a former member of the US Ski Team. She finds ways to motivate others to grow and learn both in sports and in business.
Tracy is one of the few female hardgoods buyers in the industry, buying for Sturtevant's, Ski Mart and all of the Christy Sports owned stores in 5 states. She is a regular participant and contributor to the Ski(ing) magazine annual ski test.
Her knowledge from the floor about female buying habits, along with her 20-plus years of teaching women’s clinics, brings invaluable experience to W2W. She’s hosted several Blizzard Tecnica in-store educational events in the last few years with Q&A’s featuring athletes like Kelleher and Paaso.
“Women aren’t necessarily interested in what kind of wood is in the core, but they want to know the characteristics of the skis and boots,” says Gibbons. “At these events, we explain the differences.” One of the biggest challenges, says Gibbons, is women coming into the shop asking for the 106 mm underfoot ski that their brother or husband skis on. “We explain why different ski widths or flex patterns might be better for someone.”
