The history of the Royal Canadian Navy is an integral thread that winds its way throughout the history of Canada. In times of conflict, the lives of Canadians of all ages, all races, all social classes are touched in some way; fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and sweethearts. Some sailors are killed in action, wounded, or return to live the rest of their lives with the invisible scars of war. For those of us who have had the good fortune to live in a time of peace, war can seem far removed from our daily lives.By remembering and sharing this proud history we ensure that the tradition of freedom these people fought to preserve lives on. Please join us to explore how the Naval Museum of Halifax shares these important stories of courage, sacrifice, and perseverance, and keeps the history of the Royal Canadian Navy alive.
