Bob Levey is a prize-winning journalist who has covered the Washington scene at The Washington Post for 36 years—since the Johnson Administration. For 23 years, he wrote a daily column, “Bob Levey’s Washington,” examining various aspects of life in the nation’s capital. For 21 years he has written a monthly column for the Beacon, a publication for seniors, where he covered the concept of retirement from all angles.
Bob has headed two nonprofit organizations and taught journalism at the University of Memphis and Virginia Commonwealth University. He provides consulting services to charities and is also a trustee at Montgomery College.
His diverse career included roles such as night police reporter, national political reporter, and feature writer. Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Levey earned a BA with special honors. He is a championship bridge player and a folksinger.
