About this Event
Join us for a conversation with Obenshain Family Distinguished Visitor and Diplomat in Residence Ambassador (rtd) Erica Barks Ruggles, Magro Family Distinguished Visitor in International Affairs Ambassador (rtd) Jeffrey Delaurentis, and Victoria K. Holt, Director of the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding as they discuss the future of the UN and the Multilateral System. Following the UN General Assembly high-level meetings in New York, the UN Climate Week, and the 80th Anniversary of the founding of the UN system these experts will take stock of:
- The leadership of the international system of institutions, rules and norms that have regulated international affairs, stopped wars, and built unprecedented wealth and opportunity over the last two generations
- The position of the U.S. government as the UN moves into its 9th decade, and the positions of rivals and those demanding a bigger seat at the table, including the PRC, India, and others;
- And, what we can expect for the future of multilateralism as other nations navigate their place in a changing and increasingly multi-polar world.
