The Breaking Bread Village is introducing a new series- "Who We Are"- that aims to make us aware of, remind us of, and reimagine our sense of who we are as individuals and as a collective. It's easy to lose sight of who we genuinely are amidst the constant barrage of society's expectations, self-doubt, trauma, and cultures. The "Who We Are" series strives to challenge some norms and empower us to embrace our authentic selves and others. Through personal stories of growth, concern, experiences, cultural heritage, and reflections, we hope to inspire our community to celebrate all that makes us human. Walk alongside us as we take this journey of self-discovery and redefine our understanding of what it means to be true to ourselves.
In this series, we will delve into the complexities of identity and how it shapes our lives, mindsets, and connections. We will explore the various factors contributing to our identities, such as our race, ethnicity, perspectives, thoughts, religion, and more. By examining these different aspects of identity and who we are, we hope to shed light on how they intersect and influence one another.
Through the personal and joint stories of individuals from different walks of life coming together, we will learn how they have navigated their journeys of self-discovery, how they have learned to embrace their true selves, and how they embrace or are hesitant to embrace others. We will also hear from experts in identity studies, who will provide insights into the latest research on identity and its impact on our well-being and connectivity.
Ultimately, this series aims to encourage our community to reflect on how we present ourselves to others and even ourselves. And how we embrace or understand the unique qualities that make us and others- who we are. By doing so, we hope to create a more empathetic, emotionally mature, and accepting society where differences are celebrated and not feared. And where everyone feels free to be their authentic selves.
