1-2th March 2025
This two-day course will offer participants either the foundation and fundamentals course route or the beginner to intermediate route.
Foundation and fundamentals
This two-day introductory course starts right at the very beginning, so no prior experience is required. We will teach you foundation and fundamental paddling technique on Grade 1 – 2 river environments where you can build your skills with confidence.
We will teach you how to use basic paddling equipment with a focus on safe technique, paddling safely in groups, river reading, and basic rescues. Throughout the course rescue 1 skills will be taught and participants have the opportunity to be assessed for their Paddle Australia Rescue 1 award.
Your instructor will help you analyse and improve your technique through various feedback methods which may include verbal and video analysis.
If you are looking to get into paddling, looking for a refresher, or want to revisit fundamental paddling technique to be safe and efficient on Grade 2 rivers then this is the course for you.
Beginner to Intermediate
This course builds on your foundation skills towards making you an independent and confident paddler.
Your instructor will analyse your paddling to refine existing skills and develop new paddling skills to allow you to style it on Grade 2 water and run rivers confidently. You will be introduced to intermediate paddle strokes, improved boat control through transmission, angle and edging, and using river features to assist in making moves on the river. You will have fun practising these skills with a play based focus.
This course is for those who have some Grade 1 – 2 river experience, wanting to move forward in their paddling by building and refining their skills to paddle confidently on most, if not all, Grade 2 river features.
Accommodation will be camping at the Forth White water course. You must supply your own camping gear, there is a toilet and covered BBQ area at the venue. Google pin below.
