Explore the cultural and historical significance of White River State Park on a one-hour walking tour with Indiana Landmarks. Guides will share stories of the park’s history, from the time of Indianapolis’s settlement to the present day, tracing how the area evolved from a hub of transportation and industry to a center for recreation, culture, and entertainment. The tour will highlight how historic landmarks became assets within the park including the 1916 Washington Street bridge, limestone-lined river promenade, 1870 pumphouse, Central Canal, and more.
The outdoor walking tour departs from White River State Park Visitor Center (801 W Washington St, Indianapolis). Groups will cover approximately one mile over the course of 60 minutes.
Indiana Landmarks proudly presents this tour in partnership with White River State Park Development Commission.
