About this Event
For the first time ever, Whisky & Witches have created a unique Winter Solstice Experience. A musical and ritual whisky experience, which transports you deep into the heart of the powers, stories and possibilites which awakens on the longest night of the year.
Drawing on ancient Winter Solstice and Midwinter rituals, tales and songs from the Vikings and the Celts we shape a new version of our 5-star show.
Through tantilizing tasting notes, mesmerising music and storytelling by candlelight we venture on a journey into the heart of winter through 5 warming spirited drinks. Unveiling the significance of the drink in age-old traditions, and sharing stories about the women whose involvement was pivitol to what we know about whisky and drinks in a ritual context today.
Where the night is the longest, the dark offers us a sacred space of contemplation, gratetitude and manifestation.
We invite you to join us into a unique form of Winter Solstice Celebration.
BACKGROUND OF WHISKY & WITCHES
Whisky & Witches began in 2022 as the brainchild of Danish singer, Ancient/Viking Music Expert, composer and OurWhisky Foundation Mentee Christine Kammerer and Whisky Guru Winner Jane Ross, owner of bars The Mother Superior, the Powder Room, and the False Widow in Edinburgh.
This critically acclaimed whisky experience has garnered several 5-star reviews, two award-nominations, and has sold out more than 30 shows. Working with sponsors such as the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Spiritfilled, Woodrows Whisky, Stauning and Copenhagen Distillery, this duo has performed in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Norway and Denmark, including Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Fèis ìle, Belfast Whiskey Week, and Tunsberg Whisky Festival
Using their background in Musicology, whisky, and musical theatre the duo specialises in creating 5-star musical whisky experiences in which they use music, storytelling and tantalising tasting notes to unfold through women’s undeniable significance in the history of brewing and distilling – and unveil how and why some of them were framed as witches.
At the core of their work is telling the story of marginalised groups, and emphasising intercultural connections through whisky. Often using expressions from all over the world.
