Soul Patch Natural with Fancy Hat – The 1” wide area of facial hair just under the lip without any styling aids** will be judged. Competitors with full beards and mustaches are allowed to compete but only the soul patch will be judged. Competitors must wear a fancy hat* to accompany their soul patch.
Soul Patch Freestyle with Fancy Hat - The 1” wide area of facial hair just under the lip styled in any manner with styling aids** will be judged. Competitors with full beards and mustaches are allowed to compete but only the soul patch will be judged. Competitors must wear a fancy hat* to accompany their soul patch.
Craft Soul Patch Realistic with Fancy Hat – Crafted soul patches made to look as natural and realistic as possible, that do not exceed a width of 1” and placed right below the bottom lip with be judge. Competitors must wear a fancy hat* to accompany their soul patch.
Craft Soul Patch Creative with Fancy Hat - Crafted soul patches made from any materials you can get your hands on, that do not exceed a width of 1” and placed right below the bottom lip with be judge. Competitors must wear a fancy hat* to accompany their soul patch.
*What constitutes a 'Fancy Hat?' To answer this we turned to Derby City Whisker Club's resident fancy hat connoisseur and 5 time English Style Moustache Champion Patrick Fette. His response: I've been asked many times what defines a fancy hat. A fancy hat is many things to many people. Whether it's your Sunday best, your favorite Derby hat, or your grandpa's stepping out fedora, a fancy hat defines the wearer, not the other way around.
