About this Event
Whim Wood is part of Whim Bog SSSI and is situated just south of Leadburn. The bog itself is a lowland raised bog habitat important for several species of sphagnum moss as well as bog asphodel and the carnivorous round-leaved sundew.
On this visit we will be clearing invasive rhododendron and removing the roots to ensure it doesn't come back. This will help the woodlands on the site to regenerate and improve biodiversity.
We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 01313370223 to book a space and for joining instructions.
P lease bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.
You can check our website for further information and frequently asked questions.
