Guitarist David Midas spent the early part of this year writing and recording a new album in Havana, Cuba in which he hired local musicians to add a strong authenticity to his music, the essence of which was to capture the 'buzz' of the Cuban Latino/Jazz scene. Part of what David accomplished will form some of his enthralling performance at Whighams, but his other love, a taste for the music of Charlie Parker will help create an intimate jazz club vibe.
With the Cuban element - David wants to fill the Cellar Bar with lots of percussion - so if you want to help by bringing in shakers/guiros/maracas/agogo bells/cowbells etc... then please feel free to do so. It will add so much vibrance to the music!
David will be joined by his long-time cohort Nick Gould (tenor), the outrageously talented young pianist Alex McNamee, Marco Solazzo (d.bass) and Dan Shearer (drums)
See You Sunday for what will be a great evening of eclectic jazz.
