Whidbey Wonders: Traditional Boatbuilding from Vikings to Now

During this presentation, master boatbuilder Jay Smith will introduce the people, history, and construction techniques of Viking shipbuilding.
Beginning with apprenticeships in Norway and the Faroe Islands, Jay Smith has been building small boats to Viking Ships for over 40 years. Aspøya Boats launched the 38’ Polaris in 2018 and the 56’ Valkyrie in March 2024.
