About this Event

Presented jointly by Smallholder Data Services, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Energy & Environment Program at Columbia University | SIPA during NYC Climate Week 2022. Event sponsors: Smallholder Farmers Alliance, The Data Economics Company and Terra Genesis.

Hear from smallholder leaders from Haiti and Thailand as well as corporate, foundation and consulting practitioners who are all part of a quiet revolution now underway in agriculture. While not yet a household name, regenerative agriculture is emerging as the new global gold standard for sustainable farming. Rather than contributing to climate change like much of conventional farming, this holistic system of land management actually helps to reverse climate change by making measurable improvements to farmland, biodiversity and the environment in the course of producing nutritious food, fiber and other products.

Regenerative agriculture draws heavily on indigenous wisdom and various systems of organic farming. What is new is the ability to combine the best of these approaches into holistic principles that are used to create site-specific applications that take into account the farmers themselves, their communities, the local climate, the regional conditions and the cultural context.

The last half hour from 11:30am to 12:00noon will be a networking reception.

There is no charge, but advance registration is required. Proof of vaccination required at the door.
