Learn about your library's evolution, from the first attempt to establish services in the 1840s to the building of the current Columbia Public Library, headquarters of the Daniel Boone Regional Library system. Long-time staff member and genealogist Tim Dollens will discuss the library's many locations and the movers and shakers who wanted our community to be on the forefront of literacy and culture, building on our small town's "Athens of the West" reputation as we were home to the University of Missouri, Baptist Female College (now Stephens College) and Christian College (now Columbia College). Thank you to our event co-sponsor, Daniel Boone Regional Library.Tim Dollens has been an avid genealogist since he was a teenager growing up in rural Thompson, Missouri.
