Dr. Linda James Myers' Bio

Dr. Linda James Myers is an internationally recognized thought leader, author, and scholar whose africological perspective in the production of psychological knowledge places the wisdom tradition of African deep thought at the forefront of the paradigm shift supported by contemporary science, and Eastern philosophies around which the heights of knowledge across cultural groups converge. Her research articulating optimal psychology, aka optimal conceptual theory (OCT), deepens our understanding of the higher stages of human development and how to achieve them. Providing insights into the causal cultural roots of racism, colorism, sexism, classism, and other societal isms and their intersections, methods for inoculation and their eradication have been identified and implemented. Belief Systems Analysis, her psychotherapeutic approach, along with her Optimization Process and HeartFeather Strategy, designed to facilitate healing by elevating consciousness toward the more holistic, integrative optimal mindset, have been used broadly for over 30 years with great success among persons acknowledging African ancestry. Such practices lead to enhanced health and growth morally, spiritually, and energetically for individual and collective sustainable well-being.

The Center for Optimal Thought (TCOT) is a private non-profit organization founded by Dr. Linda James Myers devoted to the educational mission of transformative learning based on the tenets of Optimal Psychology, also known as Optimal Conceptual Theory, and Belief Analysis. TCOT is devoted to training and consultation on the higher stages of human development in the wisdom tradition of Alkebulan (mother of civilization) deep thought.

Kindred Spirit Behavioral Health is a community mental health agency specializing in providing comprehensive culturally specific mental health services. Staffed by advanced clinicians, licensed psychologists, licensed counselors, and licensed social workers, KSBH’s theoretical framework and therapeutic approach is consistent with Optimal Conceptual Theory/Belief Systems Analysis. The staff at KSBH receive and provide ongoing and intensive training in OCT/BSA. A certification program is offered for clinicians interested in becoming a certified provider of OCT/BSA.

The Alexandria People's Assembly is a nonprofit building community and empowering parent advocacy that contributes to a just, loving, sustainable world. Our racial justice and mental health work is rooted in the Black Alexandria history, present, and future. The ongoing work of the Alexandria People's Assembly develops community-based, person-centered solutions through advocacy, education, and base building as a path to dismantle oppressive systems, combat anti-Black racism, and promote an optimal conceptual worldview that fosters unity and makes life better for Alexandria’s children and families.
