Wheel Throwing for Everyone
Mondays, January 19 to February 9
5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Whether you are brand new to clay or already comfortable on the wheel, this four-week ceramics course is designed to meet you where you are. Students will explore each step of the wheel throwing process, learning how to center clay, throw foundational forms and build confidence through hands-on practice. Returning ceramics students and experienced potters will have the opportunity to refine specific skills, work with larger amounts of clay and experiment with more advanced techniques.
Instruction covers throwing taller and thinner vessels, shaping new forms and practicing attachments such as handles. Students will also explore pulling handles directly from the side of a cup. Although the class focuses on functional tableware like mugs, cups, bowls and plates, all forms of creative expression are encouraged.
All clay, tools and materials are included, and students will leave with finished ceramic pieces created during the course.
