“What’s That Smell?" An Olfactory Game of Nose Training (in person)

Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? Let’s find out!

“What’s that Smell?” is a game night that puts your nose to the test. In the first hour, you will be presented with 10 aromatic materials, all anonymous, to sniff, reflect, and possibly identify. Each participant will record their impressions and guesses. The second hour will consist of a collective sharing of olfactory impressions and the unveiling of the aromatic materials’ identities and characters. It will be a rollicking ride of encountering strange molecules, meeting fellow smell-hounds, and developing your skills of olfactory recall.

This is an in person class that will take place at the Institute for Art and Olfaction. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credit for this class. Note also that event tickets are non-transferable.

About the Instructor

Trained in architecture and design, Minetta Rogers is the director of programs at the IAO and has been teaching newcomers to perfumery for almost a decade. Drawing inspiration from the design approaches that she learned through her studies in architecture and in the field, she brings an approach to education that is rooted in facts, curiosity supported by rigorous research, and design strategies.

All levels are welcome, but this session is 18 and up (or 14+, with adult supervision).
