About this Event
Welcome to What's new and what's in the Sky at Night!
Come join Chris Lintott at Oxford Spires Academy for an exciting event where we'll explore the latest happenings in the night sky. Chris will guide you through the wonders of the universe, from new discoveries to upcoming celestial events. Whether you're a seasoned stargazer or just curious about the cosmos, this event is perfect for anyone with a passion for astronomy. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired under the stars!
This event is part of a fundraising drive to help subsidse our 6th form Physics visit to CERN in July and make it affordable for all students - all profits will go towards this visit
Chris Lintott is a professor of astrophysics at the University of Oxford, and a research fellow at New College. Best known as the co-presenter of the BBC’s Sky at Night program, he is also the 39th Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College in London, presenting free lectures six times a year. His own research combines machine learning with contributions from millions of members of the public, made via the Zooniverse citizen science platform which he founded, often in search of the most unusual objects in the Universe, from interstellar asteroids to distant galaxies. His latest book, ‘Our Accidental Universe’, explaining how astronomers are surprised by the Universe, is out in March.
