Writing About Family: Five Best Practices Workshop with Heather Sellers

Heather Sellers will lead attendees in an instructional session that will include handouts and writing prompts. Sellers will also share some of her writing strategies for creating narratives about family and leave time at the end for attendee questions and discussion.
What My Father And I Don't Talk About: Reading and Conversation

Following the workshop, Heather Sellers will be joined by the editor of What My Father And I Don't Talk About, Michele Filgate. Sellers and Filgate will each read their contributions to the anthology, talk about creating this collection and Filgate's previous collection , and leave time for audience Q&A.
Heather Sellers teaches creative writing at USF. Her work appears in The New York Times, Best American Essays, Good Housekeeping, Reader's Digest, The Sun, and The Royal Journal of Medicine.
Michele Filgate is the editor of What My Mother and I Don’t Talk About and What My Father and I Don’t Talk About. Her writing has appeared in Longreads, Poets & Writers, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Paris Review Daily, Tin House, Gulf Coast, Oprah Daily, and many other publications. She received her MFA in Fiction from NYU, where she was the recipient of the Stein Fellowship. She teaches writing at The New School.
