The purpose of the training is to encourage and equip students (grades 7-12), parents, teachers, pastors, anyone wanting the ability to stand firm for Christ in a world of opposing ideas. This event is hosted by UBY and in partnership with Summit Ministries. Summit’s mission is to equip and support rising generations to embrace God’s truth and champion a biblical worldview.

Speaker and Topics
Brett Kunkle is the founder and president of MAVEN. He has over 25 years of experience working with junior high, high school, and college students as a youth pastor and Student Impact Director at Stand to Reason. Brett was an associate editor for the Apologetics Study Bible for Students, wrote the Ambassadors Guide to Mormonism, and co-authored A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World. He received his bachelor's degree in Christian education from Biola University and his master's degree in philosophy of religion and ethics from Talbot School of Theology. Brett and his wife, Erin, live in Southern California with their five children and recently welcomed their first grandchild.
● The Atheist Experience
How would you fare in a conversation with an atheist? Could you defend the faith with more than “the Bible says so” or “I just have faith?” Find out as Brett role plays an atheist for your group. This challenge will help you evaluate your knowledge of Christianity and your ability to defend it (or lack of it!). You’ll walk away motivated like never before.
● Truth Never Gets Old
Our culture is deeply confused about truth and drowning in a relativist sea. In this talk,
we'll look at the nature of truth, distinguish objective from subjective truth, and then test our understanding of truth. The results are eye-opening for students and adults alike, as many Christians find themselves affirming relativism. Finally, we'll examine objections to truth and discover why the truth matters.
● Why Should We Trust the Bible?
Why should anyone trust an ancient book written by a bunch of men? Why should we think the Bible has any authority whatsoever? The culture continually undermines our confidence in the Bible as the very words of God. In this talk, we’ll show how the Bible has been passed down to us accurately through time, demonstrate why the Bible is the most historically reliable ancient document we have, and uncover God's divine fingerprints within the pages of this life-changing book.
