About this Event
2025 has been a year with a new President who has taken executive power to an extreme.
Join us on Monday, April 21st at the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Library at 5:30-7pm for a general LWVSD membership meeting and presentation of our newest Speakers Bureau talk “Democracy in America: The Impact of Executive Power in 2025”.
This will be a great opportunity to meet other LWVSD members and leaders as well as to hear about the work the LWV is doing to defend democracy in 2025. For newer members, this is a way to connect to and learn about the League.
We will have some social time with cheese and crackers, snacks and light beverages followed by introductions of LWVSD leaders and interest group chairs.
Our Speakers Bureau team has developed the “Democracy in America: The Impact of Executive Power” talk to present to civic and community groups about American democracy, the extensive use of executive action in 2025, the role of lawsuits and courts in challenging it, and what we as individuals and League members can do to address it. Our presenters will be three of our Speakers Bureau members, Gina Gianzero, Jane Andrews and Katey Alexander.
Parking is available underneath the library, and parking tickets can be stamped inside the library.
Notice of Accessibility: LWVSD strives to create inclusive, accessible meetings and events that enable all individuals to fully engage with its programming. Please contact us if you need accommodations to access this event.
