Language of Instruction: English, Hindi Venue: Harkat Studios, Mumbai Fee: ₹5,800 | Early Bird (First 5 sign-ups): ₹5,300 Dates: 10th – 16th March (No session on 14th for Holi) Timings: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM This year, What is Performance? returns with its fourth iteration, exploring the intersection of poetry and movement. Centered around the evocative words of Amrita Pritam—one of the most powerful and rebellious voices in Indian literature—this workshop invites participants to interpret poetry through the body. Through guided exercises, we will write, respond, read, and discuss Pritam’s work, primarily using translated texts in Hindi and English. Participants will be encouraged to work in pairs, trios, and groups, crafting movement phrases individually and collectively. Play with imagery and objects will deepen the exploration, blurring the line between text and performance. How does poetry become poetic through movement? How can we embody a poem and give it physical expression? No prior dance or performance experience is necessary—just an openness to experiment, move, and explore. Performing is optional; participants can engage in the process without stepping into a final presentation on 16th March - 7:00 pm.
