What is consciousness? 🤯(Note the date: November 11!)
How can we think? How can we explain consciousness itself? Are animals conscious? Are you? 🤔
On the one hand, how can physical (chemical and electrical) processes in the brain give rise to subjective, first-person phenomena such as free will and reasoning? 🧐 On the other hand, how can we have any conception of what physical phenomena are without mental ones? Doesn’t knowledge require consciousness? 🤯
What is consciousness? 🤔 Perhaps it is something that requires a system, such as that of a human brain, or an animal. But if that’s the case, why couldn’t a computer have consciousness? Even further, a human society is a system of sorts; can that have consciousness? 👩👩👦👦
If consciousness confuses you, please join the Manx Philosophical Café on Tuesday, November 4. We meet at the Bohemian Coffee House. ☕ It starts at 19:00. Please come early if you want coffee with the discussion! ⌚☕
