About this Event
Join me, Salome Tirado, a recent Computer Science graduate and the 2024 Unidays Student Woman of the Year, for a groundbreaking live show in Leeds this October. Presented under the banner of my award-winning YouTube podcast series, Tones by Salome, we proudly bring you “What Happened to My Arm?”—an inspiring, powerful, and one-of-a-kind event.
The show centers around the incredible journey of Vilson Duarte Dong, a 22-year-old ex-gang member whose life was forever changed after surviving a near-fatal car accident. Despite the odds, Vilson rebuilt his life, earned first-class honors, and now advocates passionately against knife crime. His remarkable story, featured on BBC and ITV, is a testament to hope, resilience, and transformation.
While Vilson's story is the centerpiece, each performer will bring their own artistic response to themes of loss, identity, and hope. Expect a vibrant mix of dance, rap, music, spoken word, visual art, and an integrated fashion show featuring a popular Leeds designer.
With an expected audience of 500, this event will spotlight the creativity of young people, especially Black and minority creatives in Leeds.
Don’t miss this unique fusion of storytelling, performance, and fashion in a truly inspiring and empowering showcase!
