About this Event

About

The Major Archive Projects Learning Exchange (MAPLE) was set up in autumn 2007 to support organisations planning or managing large archive projects, primarily capital developments. This networking group, facilitated by The National Archives, provides a forum for organisations to share their experiences, knowledge, and plans.

This in-person event will discuss the logistics and practicalities of planning an archive move. Carolyn Ball (County Archivist, The Story Durham) and Lizzy Baker (Archives Lead, Tyne & Wear Archives) will share their practical tips of moving archive collections. There will also be an opportunity to hear 'top-tips' from The Story's Facilities Manager, David Newby. Durham County Council's Strategic Manager for Culture, Dr. Sarah Glynn will present on how to advocate or a capital project.

This event is in-person only and will include a guided tour of The Story at the end of the talks.
