In this Advent retreat, What Child Is This? we contemplate the Divine Child in Scripture—Jesus, the Child of God, born for us and to us. Through prayer, silence, and reflection, we will explore how the Christ Child, who remains eternally the beloved Son, offers healing to our wounded inner children. Drawing inspiration from Hans Urs von Balthasar’s Unless You Become Like This Child, and the contemporary movement to reconnect with the inner child, we will reflect on Jesus’ deep identification with children, and the saving promise He brings. This day invites us to bring our own vulnerable, hidden child-selves to the manger—and to the Cross—where the Divine Child embraces, heals, and redeems.
