About this Event
This event is designed to help train our volunteers as snorkel guides and safety kayakers for the upcoming season. Whether you are new this season or you feel like you need some additional training all are welcome. Senior guides from last season are appreciated to help with the in water training.

you register you will have the option to attend any part of the following.
10:00 am to 12.30 pm - Introduction to EMR volunteering
12.30 pm to 1.00pm - Catered lunch and Q&A (based at MERC)
1 .00pm - 3.00pm In-water snorkel guide training, safety kayak training
We will cover the following during day:
- Theory session which covers our SOP, volunteer roles, etc.
- How to give a briefing/karakia
- How to kit up participants
- Leading a group
- Rescue scenarios
- Safety kayak rescues
You will be marked and given a score which will give you your starting role for the upcoming season.

Senior Snorkel Guide
Please note that we will give you feedback and help you further your skills throughout the season. What ever role you have initially is just a starting point!
