About this Event

Explore the mangroves of the of Whangateau/Omaha Harbour with an experienced snorkel guide, you never know what you might spot!

Discover crabs, triplefins, spotties, parore and yellow eyed mullet. Fun for the whole whānau!

This event is in memory of the late Dr Roger Grace. It is funded by The Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation and Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa with the support of the Whangateau Holiday Park.

When:

Sunday 3rd March 2024

Rotation 1: 12.00pm 1.30pm

Rotation 2: 2.00pm - 3.30pm

Pre - registration is recommended

Please arrive 10mins prior to your time slot.

Where: Whangateau Harbour, 511 Leigh Rd, Whangateau. On sports field next to Whangateau Holiday Park.

Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits. Recommended for everyone 4 years and up. All children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult in the water. We require all in water participants to be fluent in english or have a translator that can join them in the water snorkelling. Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.

Experiencing Marine Reserves runs a series of free and subsidised events over the summer months - we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event.
