Now in its 14th year, Whanganui’s Vintage Weekend celebrates nostalgia, entertainment, and community spirit. This four-day extravaganza promises to take you back to an era filled with vintage allure, classic cars, retro fashion, and nostalgic entertainment.
Arrive in style on Friday the 17th of January, on Steam Incorporated’s heritage train into Whanganui! Options are available to travel on the train travelling between Kapiti & Whanganui and start at $129pp. A series of local trains will be operating throughout the 18th & 19th before the train returns to Kapiti on the afternoon of the 19th.

Saturday 18th January
The Kai Iwi Trekker - Departs Eastown at 10:15am (1hr 45min trip)
The Kai Iwi Trekker - Departs Eastown at 12pm (1hr 45min trip)
The Ruatangata Wanderer - Departs Eastown at 1:55 (1hr 45min trip)
Vintage Steam & Cuisine - Departs Eastown at 4pm (3hr trip including dinner)
Sunday 19th January
The Feilding Flyer - Departs Taupo Quay at 8:25am returning at 3:30pm. 1hr stop in Feilding for a coffee & a bite to eat! Our headline excursion for the weekend!
