Anstey's Main Carpark (by the public swimming pools)
Distance:
Whaling Station: 8km
South Pier: 17km (For the longer 17km hike, there’s a section where the road is damaged, and we’ll cross on the beach at low tide, where you’ll need to remove your shoes or walk in aqua shoes.)
Difficulty:
Whaling Station: Grade 1 (Easy)
South Pier: Grade 2 (Moderate, due to distance and walking on sand)
Optional climb to the Whale Watching Deck (approx. 340 steps)
Duration:
Whaling Station: 3 hours (excluding breaks)
South Pier: 5 hours (excluding breaks)

Comfortable shoes (hiking boots or takkies)
Aqua shoes (if doing the South Pier hike)

Raincoat (just in case—it’s all part of the adventure!)
Your favourite coffee mug
Important:
We need a minimum of 20 confirmed bookings for the event to proceed. If the quota isn’t met, the event will be cancelled, and refunds will be processed. No refunds for ‘no shows.’
Well-behaved pooches are welcome!
Grading of Hikes:
Grade 1: Easy. Minimal fitness required
Grade 2: Moderate fitness recommended
Grade 3: Moderate. Physical fitness advisable
Grade 4: Strenuous. Physical fitness essential
Grade 5: Very strenuous – high level of fitness essential
