About Karen
Karen is a skilled feltmaker and textile artist who is a member of the International Feltmakers Association. She has been working with textiles throughout her adult life, but in 2015, she discovered the ancient art of wet felting and was captivated by its incredible versatility.
Karen has a special focus on 3D or seamless felting, a technique where items like bowls, bags, and scarves are created without stitching by felting around a waterproof template. She enjoys adding texture to her pieces by incorporating various natural fibres, yarns, wool locks, and silk fabrics. Her vibrant use of colour is a hallmark of her work, often inspired by the changing seasons, natural light, and the emotions these evoke. Karen believes in the power of colour to influence mood, bringing joy, energy, and comfort to her creative process.
In her recent work, she has started experimenting with British wool to support the British Wool Industry. Alongside selling her creations at various shows, Karen also offers feltmaking tutorials for small groups at her home studio in Leicestershire and other venues across the county.
