What is Wet Felting? It is a centuries old craft using animal fibres to create material for use amongst many items, clothing and in some cultures, tents (Yurts).
Today in Australia it is most famously used to make the iconic Akubra and also for the inner warm layer in handmade quilts.
It can also be so much more than that. Using clean wool, water soap and a bit of elbow grease this simple skill can be a lot of fun.
Felt making is both random and predictable, ultimately freeing and something in which what looks like a mistake can be transformed into a success.
In other words there are no mistakes, just creative opportunities.
Wet felting does not involve the use of needles.
