Wet Felt Bird Pod WorkshopCome and enjoy a fun day of wet felting as you create a felt bird pod, which is sure to be a hit with your feathered friends. Made from naturally water repellent wool fibers, your handmade bird pod will provide a cozy home for nesting birds and can be hung in a tree or under the eaves . This is a great introduction to 3D wet felting employing a resist, which is the same technique used in making hats, bags, slippers, etc. Watch as our flat felt piece becomes three dimensional.
You will have access to all kinds of fun embellishments which may include wool nepps, sari silk waste, silk luster fibers, bamboo fibers, and more. Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and be prepared to get wet.
Instruction fee: $85
Materials: $35 - includes the wool for the bird pod, embellishing, fibers, reusable pattern, soap, and use of instructor supplies.
Skill level: using a resist is on the advanced end of beginner felting. If you’ve never wet felted before you can still accomplish a bird pod, just allow extra patience with the process.
