SATURDAY, OCT 8 AT WHS COMMONS

Family Day honoring the memory of David Castro

Who: WHS c/o 2002 & their families (children encouraged), parents of '02 classmates, past and current staff, family of David Castro

Time: TBD (afternoon)

Join us at WHS for family friendly games, dessert, WHS tours, craft in memory of David Castro, and prizes for the kids!

We are excited to get our classmates together and in addition to enjoying one another, we wanted to do something special to honor a fellow Westside student. You may be aware of the tragedy that occurred in Houston on July 6, 2021 when 17 year old David Castro was murdered during a case of road rage as he, his brother and father, Paul Castro, were on the way home from an Astros game. Paul Castro, David's father, and Sarah Castro, David's mother, were Deans at Westside during our time there. If not for his untimely passing, David would have graduated from Westside this past May. We want to honor his memory with a scholarship fund that will go to a deserving Westside HS student from the c/o 2023 and hope you will be able to support us in this endeavor. After reunion expenses, all extra funds will go to the #RAKDavid (Random Acts of Kindness) Scholarship. To learn more about David Castro, go to RAKDavid.org . There will be opportunities to donate to the scholarship fund at the Friday night event and at the Family Day.

We will post a separate invitation for the Family Day soon.
