Since their appearance in Kansas City in 2011, the Starhaven Rounders have swiftly built a reputation for high energy shows full of ‘sass and defiance’ (Tim Finn, KC Star). Conceived by drummer Wade Williamson (the descendant of a long line of country western musicians) the band pulls material for their songbook from other eras, performing fan favorites like 'Pop a Top' and 'Six Days on the Road', in addition to lesser known songs from iconic country legends like Willie Nelson, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and more. The six piece band (with dozens of years of combined experience on stage) is a classic country western lovers dream, featuring pedal steel and dueling male/female vocalists. Even people who don’t consider themselves fans of the genre will get caught up in the Rounders upbeat, full throttle performances. Starhaven Rounders play the music of the heartland, celebrating family tradition, great songwriting and legendary musicians.
“a canyon deep baritone most country singers would eat their hat to have” - Bandcamp Daily
Hailing from the plains of eastern Kansas, Marty Bush is a torchbearer of the American songwriting tradition. His songs resonate with the weight of his influences such as Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, and Kris Kristofferson, but he has channeled their emotional honesty and unvarnished truth-telling into something uniquely his own. While his 2022 solo debut “The Long Way Home” established him as a devout follower of the country and western songwriting tradition, his follow-up LP “Cowboy Chords” (out OCTOBER 13th 2023) takes a bold step forward in establishing his voice as both a songwriter and performer. Taking the reins as both producer and engineer, Bush plays every instrument on the album with the exception of pedal steel which is skillfully manned by Devon Teran (Timbers). The result is a clear and precise vision of songs that honor the past and think to the present.
A NOTE ABOUT SEATING:
The Ship is a seating-limited music venue with room for over 350 people standing. We almost always have room for walk-ins, so advanced tickets are not required- just pay when you arrive. We offer full service at both bars with plenty of room to stand and dance. Table and bar seating is available if not already reserved.
The only way to guarantee a seat for the show and full table service for dinner and drinks is to purchase advanced tickets. We offer a mix of comfortable booths and high-top tables for up to 5 and we have one communal family-style table that seats up to 14. We will hold your seats until 45 minutes after showtime.
Also know that dancing is encouraged and so views from your table may be obstructed by others having a good time and enjoying the show.
