----HIGHLIGHTS of the trip-----
★ First we will visit the unique and beautiful BORY CASTLE in Székesfehérvár, a wonderful building complex.
The biggest self-built castle of Hungary, Bory Castle was the work of Hungarian sculptor and architect Jenő Bory. He built the castle between 1923 and he was perfecting it until he died, 1959, with the help of several of his students.
They call the building "the symbol of eternal love" because he made it for his wife and family.
★ Known colloquially as FEHÉRVÁR ("white castle"), the royal residence as capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, held a central role in the Middle Ages. As required by the Doctrine of the Holy Crown, the first kings of Hungary were crowned and buried here. 43 kings were crowned in Székesfehérvár, and 15 kings were buried here. The historical city center is a place for a great walk and nice time.
★ Then we are heading to the historical PANNONHALMA ARCHABBEY.
The Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey or Territorial Abbey of Pannonhalma is a medieval building, one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary. Founded in 996 A.D., it is located near the town, on top of a hill. Saint Martin of Tours is believed to have been born at the foot of this hill, hence its former name, Mount of Saint Martin (Hungarian: Márton-hegy), from which the monastery occasionally took the alternative name of Márton-hegyi Apátság. This is the second largest territorial abbey in the world, after the one in Monte Cassino.
★ At last we will visit the "Town of Queens", VESZPRÉM, that you can found 15km North of Lake Balaton. The Veszprém castle is a whole district with historical streets and atmosphere where where we will walk around.
According to legend, Veszprém was founded on seven hills. The seven hills are Várhegy (Castle Hill), Benedek-hegy (St. Benedict Hill), Jeruzsálem-hegy (Jerusalem Hill), Temetőhegy (Cemetery Hill), Gulyadomb (Herd Hill), Kálvária-domb (Calvary Hill), and Cserhát.
