About this Event
Set your nets to learn about the history of the Western Flyer, one boat with many fish stories to tell. Built in 1937, the Western Flyer transported her most famous passengers, John Steinbeck and Ed Rickets to the Sea of Cortez (aka the Gulf of California) in 1940, inspiring Steinbeck to write"The Log from the Sea of Cortez" in 1951 . But that's just the beginning of her story! Rebecca Mostow, Education Director of the Western Flyer Foundation will share the rich history of this storied vessel, her recent restoration, and how she continues to inspire.
