About this Event
Brer Tiger and The Big Wind is part of WBTT’s education program, Rhythm & Tales. A heartwarming musical, it is a re-telling of the William J. Faulkner classic tale about Brer Rabbit organizing the other animals in the forest and how they impishly trick Brer Tiger into sharing food and water with them during a famine. Playfully reimagined by Jim Weaver and his talented artists at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, this musical will sing, dance, and growl its way into your heart!
About Rhythm & Tales
This in-theatre education program is designed for elementary school students – kindergarten through 5th grade. Rhythm & Tales welcomes little ones to a lively place where all are valued and lessons are learned through engaging fables like Brer Tiger and The Big Wind, The Alligators and the Flamingos and The Supercilious Seed. These wonderfully engaging shows teach young children about kindness, understanding and doing the right thing.
About
The mission of Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) is to produce professional theatre that promotes and celebrates African American history and experiences, engages a broad base of patrons and audiences, supports the development of a dynamic group of aspiring artists, and builds self-esteem in youth of color.
