HISTORY
Westbury Pool is one of the oldest Victorian pools in England Pool was built in 1887 as a gift to the town, The doors opened to the public in May 1888.
There were 10 individual baths and one bathing pool. Mr Laverton who built the pool supplied his workers a place to wash, socialise and have fun. It would cost a penny for a swim at the beginning of the week but gradually getting less and less as the water became more dirty. The pool was then emptied on a Friday.
In the winter months the pool closed but it was used for other things like tea dances and in the war was used as an enlisting station in 1914-15.
By 1984 the closed for renovations and re opened in 1985 with a new water heater system and an extension to the building.
Westbury Pool is still open to this day, owned by Places Leisure Ltd who up keep the building for the local community.
REPORTED HAUNTINGS
A man dressed in blue overalls is said to be seen near the changing rooms, its been reported it could be a previous caretaker. In the pool area 2 hauntings have been reported, a young girl and a gentleman who fell to his death,
