This month’s slam will be different as we’re honoured to be the Australian Poetry Slam Parramatta Heat! This means 2 minute poem time limit, 20 spots max, and number scoring. AND a $100 voucher up for grabs for the winner!
Poets Run This! Join the nation-wide search for the people’s poet. It’s APS 2025 – The Election Special. The audience will send two poets to represent Parramatta in the Sydney Final. It all culminates in the National Final at the Sydney Opera House. A Poet will be Elected – A National Slambassador for 2025 who will win a prize worth $20,000, including publication and a tour of Austral-Asia.

FEATURE - Rachael Williams
Rachael Williams is a spoken word poet and writer from Darkinjung Country on the NSW Central Coast. She has featured at poetry slams and festivals across NSW including Byron Writers Festival, Yours & Owls Festival, and in the ACT at Canberra Slam. Williams is a two-time finalist in The National Youth Poetry Slam, and in 2024, performed with Bankstown Poetry Grand Slam for a sold-out Sydney Town Hall. Hitting venues like the Sydney Opera House and the State Library last year, Williams is the current Australian Poetry Slam national runner-up and NSW Champion. Rachael Williams is proud to write and perform poetry about mental health, love, relationships, childhood, queerhood and religion.
