About the walk

The walk links the River Thames towpath, Arthur Newbery Park, McIlroy Park, Lousehill Copse, Prospect Park and the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath. I set myself the challenge of devising a walk within Reading Borough that was off-road for as much as possible. The route illustrates how Reading, which is considered a highly urban area, has many green spaces and blue routes by water. There are places of interest along the route. There is also access to Reading Transport bus routes in several places in case anyone needs to shorten their walk.

About the walk leader

Kathy Tytler is the walk leader.

"I am a long distance walker and trail runner and have been planning local routes for my own use and to lead groups of friends. I like to investigate paths and routes around Reading and to seek out interesting places."
