In conjunction with the Polish Heritage Flight, a UK based organization who is raising awareness of the contribution of Polish aircrews during WW2, over and above the famous 303 squadron. In short we are attempting a 24 in 24 build during the weekend of the Duxford Battle of Britain airshow. 3 Members will be attempting to build as passable a build as possible of the new tool Airfix 1/24 MK IV Spitfire during the weekend of 14/15th September 2024.We will be building during public access between 08.00 and 18:00 both days (so not quite 24 hrs) with the aim of seeing how far we can get. Building in hour slots, the aim is to get as far as we can through the build sticking strictly to the steps as laid out instruction leaflet with no “modular” building and building out the box. The aircraft will be painted in the scheme of the Polish fighting team in Tunisia 1943 (if we get that far).
We will be on public display during the weekend next to the Airfix stand in the restoration hall of hangar 1, the aim of the exercise being to showcase our hobby while assisting the Polish Heritage flight in their quest of raising awareness around the role of Polish pilots bomber crews and ground crews and memorializing their memories. We invite anyone who is attending Duxford on 14th / 15th to come along and say hi to offer us some encouragement or otherwise shout abuse at us for ghost seams or misaligned landing gear. It's gonna be fun!
