West Harlem Arts Collaborative Town Hall at The Children's Art Carnival!
Dear Community Member,
The West Harlem Arts initiative began during the global pandemic as a way to unite the West Harlem community and its neighboring areas in solidarity during a time of restrictions and uncertainty. Since then, we've done what comes naturally to artists: we organized exhibitions that reflected our collective experiences.
This led to:
- Resilience 2021: Celebrating the work and resilience of visual artists residing in West Harlem and the surrounding community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Memory + Healing + Sustainability 2022: Presenting artists' visions for a post-pandemic world.
- Emergency 2023: Bringing together community outreach organizations and pairing them with artists to show how they are responding to emergent global crises, from COVID-19 to civil unrest, mass shootings, and women's rights violations.
After taking a year off to reflect and regroup, we are now inviting our community, like yourself, to join us in a conversation about our next exhibition and to help shape its direction.
The meeting will take place on Sunday, December 1st, at 1:00 PM at The Children’s Art Carnival. To attend, please RSVP via Eventbrite by clicking the link below. Your input will be invaluable in guiding the theme and direction of our next exhibition.

West Harlem Arts, a collaborative initiative from The Children’s Art Carnival and Centro Civico Cultural Dominicano. West Harlem Arts is an online platform created to promote and support the collaborations between community arts organizations and celebrate the diversity of cultural programming available to the West Harlem community and its surrounding neighborhoods. West Harlem Arts recognizes that collaborations and partnerships are key to the cultivation and development of arts organizations and centers itself as a meeting place for all members of the community to come together and identify, develop and achieve common goals around serving the community.
