The tour will introduce the history of the Watervliet Shaker West Family and visit some of the historic interiors.About this Event
The Watervliet Shaker West Family was the last to be organized, in 1810, and the first to close, in 1914. When the buildings were rehabilitated in the 1940s for private residential use, the upper floors of the Dwelling House were not altered for apartments. The tour will introduce the history of the West Family and will include a visit to the former bedrooms, Meeting Room, and attic storage areas. Participants must be able to climb several flights of stairs.
