Guy Johnston is one of the most exciting British cellists of his generation. Guy has performed with many leading international orchestras and recent seasons have included a BBC Prom with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and concertos with The Hallé to name but a few. Guy is also Associate Professor of Cello at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and a guest Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music. Guy joins us to play J S Bach’s Solo Cello Suite No.2 in D minor, BWV 1008, and No. 3 in C major, BWV 1009.
Ensemble Renard was founded in 2018 by musicians and friends from the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School. A wind quintet at its core, they put on exciting and varied performances for audiences of all backgrounds. After fewer than six months of playing together, Ensemble Renard won the Royal Academy of Music’s Nicholas Blake Prize for wind chamber music, and from there have gone on to give regular recitals and workshops across the country, to much acclaim.
They will be performing Barber’s Summer Music op 31, Mozart’s Andante in F Major K.616 and Taffanel’s Wind Quintet in G minor
