About this Event
Radical self-care while grieving through the holidays
Grief is the normal reaction when we lose someone who felt essential to our life/well-being. Because we love so much, we grieve so deeply. Holidays can be particularly hard because our cultural traditions emphasize family gathering and celebrating with merriment and joy. While we can be grateful for the family/friends who still surround us, the absence of a loved one is heart wrenching especially at this time of year.
This two hour gathering will allow us to come together as a community of souls who can validate each other‘s struggle while looking for ways to care for ourselves as we navigate the expectations of the holiday season. We will create a safe container to share a little about our loved one and our grief as well as what we are struggling with during these holidays. We will share coping strategies, including empowering ourselves to decline others expectations, and to verbalize our needs to others. We will talk about self soothing, and ways to calm and care for ourselves. And lastly, we will share ways that we can honor our loved ones, and while we miss them, how we can celebrate our love in the here and now.
To be held on the 2nd floor of the Beverly Therapists Office.
